Power grass/weed trimmers can
throw stones, sticks, and other objects.
These objects can injure the eyes of
operators and those nearby. There are almost
5,000 hospital emergency room-treated
injuries associated with power lawn trimmers
or edgers each year. About one-third of the
injuries are to the eye. Consumers should
wear goggles to protect their eyes. Citizens
also should clear the area of stones,
sticks, wire, and other debris before using
either a line or blade type weed trimmer.
CAUTION
- Power grass/weed trimmers can throw
objects and injure eyes.
- Wear goggles to protect eyes.
- Clear away stones, sticks, and other
debris before using.
